The Doomfarers of Caramonde by Brian Daley
This book seems like a cross between Prince Caspian and The Fellowship of the Ring, but with a twist.
I thought it was entertaining and should be worth your while, especially if you like science fiction. I’m not a huge sci-fi guy, but I still thought it was good, so even those who aren’t into science fiction might find it appealing (although others might find it appalling).
A young Prince Springbuck has to flee the palace as he is to be assassinated and replaced on the throne. He travels the land and assembles a small team of warriors and wizards who help him take back his kingdom.
The twist lies in his wizard’s ability to bring forth an Army APC and handful of troops from our dimension. The little army was picked from their battle in Vietnam to help Springbuck and crew defeat a dragon sent to destroy them.
This book was followed up by The Starfollowers of Coramonde, which was also pretty good.
